All undergraduate students are invited to apply to the UEFS.

In past years, more students have applied than can be accommodated (28 students). Students should be prepared to make a strong case for themselves. While marks in previous, relevant coursework are considered, other evidence of aptitude for working with communities is also carefully considered. Applicants should have a copy of their transcript in-hand while applying (you will need to calculate your average and report specific courses that you have completed), and the name of one faculty referent (we will contact them only in some cases).

Applications open on January 15th and close on March 1st.

Decisions regarding acceptance are made by committee in mid-March. Students are notified whether they have been accepted or waitlisted by April 1st.

If accepted, students are required to confirm their placement by completing a Participants’ Agreement and paying a $300 fee (in addition to tuition) to cover the additional expenses associated with the Field School. This is due by April 15th.
